Mark your calendar! The date and location of our 5K Walk and 11K run are now set. Our day will begin with late registrations, tee shirt distribution, and a complimentary light breakfast, juice and coffee at 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 26th. Then the race and Walk will start promptly at 9:00 AM. The Walk and race will begin at the Salem Creek Trail entrance behind Market Place Mall , 2101 Peters Creek Parkway in Winston Salem, NC. Parking is at the far left rear of the Market Place Mall parking lot near Hamricks.
The Walk is a 5K course, and the race is an 11K, both out and back. Salem Creek Trail is beautifully serene this time of year, and the course is a scenic one, with the paved trail passing along Salem Creek, past Old Salem, Winston-Salem State University, and Reynolds Park.
The mall’s address is 2101 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC, 27127. Look for our event tents with registration table, tee shirt distribution, and food. This will be on the right just as you enter the trail.
We have been repairing wells in rural Malawi, Africa, since 2010, bringing fresh water to people who have no source of clean water.
Since our first annual walk in May, 2010, we have repaired 28 wells, serving nearly 6,000 families!
Here we are two years later, and although providing clean water remains our major focus, the scope of our mission has grown to include hygiene and sanitation workshops, well maintenance workshops, life saving birthing kits, life changing dignity kits for teenage girls, as well as vocational training and entrepreneurship development for widows and other impoverished women, all of which open wide the door for the Gospel.
As always, all of the funds raised through the Walk will go toward these projects in the villages of rural, southern Malawi.
